A Compilation of Faction Recruitment Advertisements
« on: February 26, 2016, 05:04:31 AM »
Welcome! Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, and you, the Moose in the back! The Rifts are open and people are spilling through faster than you can say "what's with that Agent Coyle guy?"

As it so happens, the various factions of the Infinity Wars want you, yes you, to join them, and have released various statements to convince the denizens of the multiverse to join their side.

Here, and here alone, you can find all of those advertisements in one place! Ease of access! Chronologically determined! With commentary by none other than your favorite self-appointed LoreNinja, me!

It all began with _ES_'s call for people to Join the Empire (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65763.0). It started out pretty tongue-in-cheek, with proud supporters of the Flame Dawn pledging their allegiance to Aberion's Banner.

Seeing this, I could not let such brazen propaganda go unanswered, responding with a call to Resist the Empire (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65766.0). A more polemic and lore-centered argument, this thread was open to all factions to oppose the Flame Dawn, and after it was published things really began to heat up.

Wayfinder1026, proud advocate of the Exiles, began to ambush everyone's threads with images of Cresill the Mad and wrote their own topic calling for people to join the Exiles and generally start some chaos (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65770.0). Suddenly the propaganda war became not just FD vs. Everyone else, but Everyone vs Everyone as more and more factions began to post their own threads.

jgsnowboarder proclaimed the inevitability of death and the triumph of the Sleepers (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65774.0), but the response from the other factions was swift. The lore itself was against the Sleepers, leaving them with a clear disadvantage.

At nearly the same time, I published an Open Letter to the Cult of Verore, extending them an olive branch and expanding the discussion further (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65775.0). Note that Candit herself seemed thrilled at the prospect of an alliance against the Flame Dawn. This thread also brought up the question of where all of the lore is, with the sad revelation that most is buried in the old campaign and the previous lore summary of CthuluGirl is no longer available.

Even the Factionless got in on the action, asking if you were Sick of Faction advertisements and admitting that joining them does run you the risk of having to work with Yobo (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65777.0).

Then the Terror Moose himself proclaimed a simple solution to the growing controversy: Be a moose. (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65778.0).

With all of these options, players representing Genesis Industries decided that they would democratically discuss the issue amongst themselves, weighing the pros and cons of each faction with Number11's Time for a GI Decision (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65782.0).

Then I got a reply to my letter from The_Fallen, claiming to represent the Verore. Proudly proclaiming Verore's supremacy, my offer of alliance was turned down (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65786.0). They must have used multiple kill spells, too, because I had a dragon prayers guarding that messenger.

The most recent member of the community to weigh in on which factions to join is Merlinix, eloquently representing the Warpath (http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65788.0)

As this discussion continues to develop I will update this summary/compilation. I for one have had a great deal of fun debating the pros and cons of faction alliances with others here on the forums, launching invectives and putting my knowledge of IW's lore to good use.

Clearly even this thread is not safe from being ambushed by Cresill.

But then, sparked by a random conversation in global chat, ES called upon the population of Infinity Wars to vote for Genmole, promising that President Genmole will "Make IW Great Again" and build a giant wall to rival that of Jinhai. Then a curious story began to emerge... http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=65972.new#new
