Tier List and Trading Guide
« on: September 07, 2015, 03:15:46 PM »
Two sets have been released since the tier list has been updated, I have decided to attempt to update it with the help of the major traders of chat. I have next to 0 experience with this type of thing, so any assistance is appreciated, and encouraged. The credit for this list goes to DarkNova and DrayGon777.

Legendaries

Special Case
Martyr Golem *****

Martyr Golem continues to be the best of the best, even after many sets have been released. Therefore it trades for much more than any other legendary.

Top Tier:

Klore, the Rapier Centurion *****
Agent Coyle, Immovable ****
Agent Coyle, Primal Hunter ****
The Defiant Hermit ***
Agent Coyle, Divinedemonic **
Sol, Angel of Vengeance *

Middle Tier:

Yagron *****
Agent Coyle, Zomborg ****
Agent Coyle, Alpha One ***
Agent Coyle, Soulseller ***
Agent Coyle, Mechborn ***
Evellee, Mage Guild Recruiter **
Vasir, The Demon Prince *

Low Tier:

Tygris, the Architect *****
Agent Coyle, Hellbringer ****
Agent Coyle, Ascended ****
Princess Hinekri ***
Liand, The Fearless **
Aberion, Champion of Force **
Gao Han, Champion of Warding *
Die Another Day *

Special Case

Agent Coyle, Firestarter (Currently Purchasable Pack) *

The sheer abundance of this card (due to it being purchasable in the Collection Starter Pack) and the lack of power it constitutes on board (Usually not getting to use it's full amount of swift strikes as it dies when it runs into it's first or second defending character) makes Agent Coyle, Firestarter trade for much lower than any other Legendary. Most traders wouldn't trade more than a low/mid tier epic for him.

******************************

Epics

Top Tier:

The Calamity *****
Dark Wish ****
The Last Sleeper ****
Undeath Wish ***
Agent Coyle, Superior Symbiote **
Oblivion **
Omnitron **
Avatar of Lingbao *
Nix, the Justiciar of Dawn *

Middle Tier:

Tygrugh, the Insane ***
Mega Unit 02 ***
Hidden by Clouds (Previously Purchasable Deck) ***
Azael (Currently Purchasable Deck) ***
Avartar of Daode ***
Avatar of Yuanshi ***
Stampede ***
Flux Capacitor **
Titan of the New World **
Zombie Abomination **
Hungry Abomination (Currently Purchasable Deck) **
Karckk **
Call the Warpath **
Prophet Karani *
Equilibrium *
Surprise Defense *
Agent Coyle, Assimilator *
Voracious Goliath *
Corrupted Celestial Dragon *

Low Tier:

Demon of Gluttony **
Vasir, Chained Prince (Previously Purchasable Deck) **
Hilderic, the Fist of Dawn **
Ju-Lin, Who Rewrites History **
Celestial Dragon **

Rares

Special Cases

Paladin of the Flame Dawn *****

This card is a little special. It's definitely one of the best rares in the game because of his ability. When you make a Flame Dawn deck, you will want 3 of them (in basically every deck with 1 purity FD as well). So the value tends to go higher for that reason. On sheer power, it's better than some epics but a little more common to pull in a pack. So if you really want 3 of them I would not hesitate to trade a low tier epic for it.

Top Tier:

Mass Death (Previously Purchasable Deck) ****
Tome of the Dead ****
Heavenly Wish ***
Annihilate ***
Hehkeem, the Corrupted (Currently Purchasable Deck) ***
Descension (Currently Purchasable Deck) ***

Yuanshi, Sage of Ferocity *

Middle Tier:

Lilariah (Previously Purchasable Deck) ***
Gao Han, the Stalwart ***
Counting The Days ***
Disruption Sphere ***
Aunissial ***
Angelify (Previously Purchasable Deck) ***
Cresill, the Mad (Currently Purchasable Deck) ***
Lingbao, Sage of Discipline ***

A couple of tips from longtime players/collectors/traders:

Also, here are a few rules of thumb to adhere to if you're a new trader:

a) Don't ever exchange high tier stuff for low tier stuff. This might sound obvious, but I am speaking specifically in regards to trading rares for epics, and epics for legs. Even though Virus of Avarrach is an epic, and Paladin of Flame Dawn is a rare, I would never exchange an FD pally for a virus of avarrach. Why? Because Avarrach is trash, and FD pally is extremely good, useful, and sought after. Even though you might think to yourself, "Woah, a rare for an epic!? Sounds like an awesome deal!!!", understand that if you trade for something like Virus of Avarrach, it will probably rot in your collection until the end of time, because no one will want it and you will virtually have sunk a valuable resource (FD paladin) into obtaining nothing, even though what you acquired is "of higher rarity".

Same can be said about legs, and epics. I would never trade a dark wish for a coyle mechborn. Mechborn blows, Dark Wish is excellent. You will get more trade value from Dark Wish than from mechborn, even though mech is a leg and wish is an epic.

b) On premiums -- always check with several major traders if you are looking to trade away a premium card. Newer players will often pop a nice premium in a pack, and just expect it to not be worth much since they haven't been playing long and it doesn't seem sensible for newer players to be able to acquire good stuff. In a TCG, even the first pack you pull can contain something that will rock the market.

I can't provide a direct exchange rate between premiums and other cards, since the value of premiums are so tremendously versatile. This is why you should check with major traders in game, so you can acquire opinions and then average them out to arrive at a reasonable value for the card.

c) As an extension of part b -- even though Chaz is making this extensive guide and trade list, there are definitely going to be some trades you're unsure about. Instead of sitting and sweating, just ask someone! I'm always happy to make trade recommendations, and so are many others.

Don't trade more than one rarity level down (i.e. don't trade legendaries for rares).  No serious trader would do this and I'd say new players shouldn't be either.  For a brand new player who read up on this tier list and just wants a full playset of rares for his Klore, its possibly worthwhile but most of the time it ends with the nub getting screwed.

This also applies to inter-tier trading, don't trade a high tier x for any number of low tier x. And combining both points don't trade high tier leg for any mid tier epics, and so on. Only people who are very experienced with trading should consider making these kind of trades.

TLDR:
  • Don't trade High tier for Low tier (Dark Wish for Mechborn, Flame Dawn Paladin for Virus of Avarrach, etc.)
  • Don't trade more than one rarity down (Legendary for Rares, Epics for Uncommons)
  • Most importantly: If you are unsure, ask around. Ask multiple people. Even people who trade a lot seek the wisdom of other traders.

Trading Guide

1. Inter-Tier Trading:
As a general rule of thumb: always attempt to trade inside of the same tiers (top rares for top rares, etc.), as this is the easiest way to ensure a fair trade. However you will soon find out that this sort of trade is rare to make, partly because everybody has a surplus/demand of different cards; and partly because most traders are looking for a good deal, not necessarily a fair one. My general guidelines as to what different tiers are worth is as follows:

Top Legendary = ~1.5-2 Middle Legendaries
Top Legendary = ~3-4 Low Legendaries
Exception: Martyr Golem is worth significantly more than these values, and Klore is also worth more, unless you find yourself with a great excess of these two cards, I recommend you hold onto them.
Middle Legendary =~ 1.5 - 2 Low Legendaries

Top Epic=~ 1.5-2 Middle Epics
Top Epic=~ 3-5 Low Epics
Middle Epic=~  2 - 3 Low Epics

Top Rare =~ 1.5-2 Middle Rares
Top Rare =~ 5 Low Rares
Middle Rare=~  2 - 3 Low Rares

2. Inter-Rarity Trading:
Again, always try to trade within the same rarity, however that may also be a tall order. If you find yourself trading across rarities, here's some points to keep in mind:

Legendaries=~ 2-3 equal tier Epics
Epics =~ 3-5 equal tier Rares
Low Rares =~ 3 Uncommons of Note
Uncommons of Note =~ 5-10 Commons
Normal Uncommons =~ 3 Commons
Note: Most of the larger traders have 0 need for Commons and Uncommons (and probably most rares). Your best bet is to trade players with a smaller collection in those cases.

Uh...could someone explain 'tierless'?
No matter the problem, the solution is always a flying emberstarter.

So these are the Legs-Rares that have come out the past two sets that haven't been given a tier on the trade table yet. This post is attempting to place the tierless into a tier and rectify this situation.

Just to elaborate on this - that was one person last night trading for a rare because they bought like 50 of the collection starter packs and had 50 to spare. So while I agree he's bad and should be moved to low epics, I wouldn't put him all the way down to rare.

I'd put Flux and Nix both on top tier epic. Flux is pretty ridiculous.
And if firestarter is low epic, vis has to be lower than that.

I'm hoping to straighten out the Legs first, then move to epics next week. I'll refer back to this then, however. :)

ive only seen gao han requested once, never seen him in play. while i havent seen aberion requested ive seen him once in play. well liand was requested quite a lot when oppression came, cant say the same for now since everyone realised hes horrible. so theyre all more or less with the same value
