Card Flavor Text List
« on: April 01, 2014, 06:29:41 AM »
Below is a compiled list of all the card with flavor text. In the interest of space, I have omitted any cards on which I did not find any flavor text (normal or hidden). Lots of interesting lore to be seen! If you notice anything missing, please PM me instead of commenting. I would like to keep the comment to discussions of the text and lore, plus PMs are easier for me to see and reply to. Don't worry, I will credit you with the correction on this post. Special thanks to jgnsowbaorder and Adorabear for helping me get my eyes on all the cards. And thank you to Heart for Annihilate's hidden flavor text.

Ascension:

This post has exceeded its character limit. To look at Ascension flavor text, please view: http://forum.lightmare.com.au/index.php?topic=61470.0

IW2013, Rise, Infestation:

Aberion, The Hammer of Dawn: The leader of the Flame Dawn, Aberion personally leads every offensive.
Acid Rain: The rain never stops. It’s almost as if the planet itself cries for the tragedy that happened here.
Agent Coyle, Alpha One:
I HAVE THE POWER!!!
Having carelessly leapt through a strange red rift, Coyle found himself in the future in the midst of an infested world so unlike the beautiful Old World he first landed on.
Alpha One encountered this time’s twisted infested version of himself. Though it had grown so much stronger from its previous infiltrations, IT needed to be faced.
‘Absolute power corrupts absolutely’
Agent Coyle, Zomborg:
Some still insisted on naming the poor souls afflicted by the cybernetic virus “Zomborgs”.
Agent Coyle was one, and the name stuck with him like the virus itself.
Airborne Scientist:
Genesis scientists that show no aptitude for laboratory work are given jetpacks instead.
‘All the science I can achieve from up here!’
Aleta’s Discovery:
The discovery of parallel versions of myself, while logical, was nevertheless unsettling.
The version of myself that I found in Avarrach was the only living human I had found. Centuries of torture by the virus had left her with no rational thought, but she was, regardless, alive.
With careful questioning, I have discovered this Aleta of Avarrach was personally involved somehow in the virus’s creation. I believe this woman is the key to the virus’s cure.
Aleta, Immortal Caretaker
Her mind erased from the power of the Calamity, Aleta never knew the face of another human until the rifts appeared.
Throughout millennia, Aleta has cared for the beasts, believing she was the only human in her world. There was, however, one other.
Aleta, Immortal Sorceress:
Dreams of an ancient power haunt her at night, causing nightmares across the world.
Most Cultists of Verore worship Aleta more than the demons they gather to summon.
With each year that passes Aleta awakens to some of her old power, threatening a second Calamity.
Aleta, Immortal Tinkerer:
Aleta learned about the other dimensions thousands of years ago. By then, she had grown too weary of conversation to tell anybody.
Over her lifetime, Aleta has created more androids than most nations.
Aleta, The Immortal Searcher:
As the only one with the ability to survive Avarrach’s virus, she has been tasked by Orion to travel to Avarrach itself to find a cure.
Travelling through the dead world of Avarrach, Aleta regained respect for the thoroughly alive nature of her homekind.
Ancient Aether:
Many factions found ways to empower their armies by harnessing the power of crystallized aether.
But for many, the power was too great to control
Angelify: ‘Lift me beyond the realm of men, so that I may never have to suffer through their lies again.’
Annihilate:
Nothing lasts forever
But let's be honest babe, it hurts but it's the only way
Assassinate:
“Unfortunately, powerful men have decided you will die.”
‘Actually… I think my gun is empty.’
‘Ooh, look at her! The zoom on this fun is amazing.’
Avarrach Has Risen: Uh Oh…
Bat-Bot:
‘Model 562 is afraid to engage in combat, and expansive to produce. Discontinued, and all engineers involved in its creation have been fired.’
‘FOOL! You have walked into the clutches of my GREATEST WEAPON! NOW, Bad-bot, ATTACK HIM!’ ‘No, Bad-bot, defend your master! Ahhhhhhh!’ –Model 562’s recording system
Balance: Good and evil, like day and night, must coexist.
Battlefield Scavenger:
Verore scavengers quickly learn to run when they see enemies on the horizon.
Sickly and haggard, Verore battlefield scavengers are sent to retrieve the souls of the dead. If they die themselves, their souls will be scavenged too.
Beast of Burden: In other worlds, they would be noble creatures. On Reish, they exist only to serve as brute labor.
Blood Crazed Initiate: Power… Overwhelming…
Bloodthirsty Dead: The sleepers thirst for power always leads them to life, for it is the greatest source of power.
Boomy:
‘Specimen 106.0b is easily identifiable by being ludicrously speedy and ridiculously boom. Fleeing in panic is advised’ –Genesis Industries Field Operations Manual 2
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
Brings Life by Passing: Though dead from The Calamity, the spirits of the dead still walk the Old World.
Cartographer:
With dust in throat I crave
The knowledge I will save
Chalice of Madness: THIS IS MADNESS
Cleanse the Land: “Fortunately, the troublesome trees have been removed in a timely manner.”
Conscripted Militia:
Alone, a random man is weak. Surrounded by his friends, he becomes great.
For the love of god don’t make a deck with 100 of these.
Contained Parallel Rift: Soooo… why is it Yellow again?
Converted Prototype: “Maybe leaving him outside wasn’t such a great idea…”
Dead Feaster: There are some things which only the dead may feast upon.
Death Ray: ‘PREPARE THE DEATH RAY!’ –Skizzi, Death Ray Specialist
Decrepit Crystal: Flesh to ash, bones to dust.
Defense Golem: A giant unrivalled by any known creature in size or placidity.
Deflect: What do we say to death? Not today.
Demonic Mercenary: Mercenaries of the wastes do not bargain for coin, but for pain and pleasure.
Devil’s Bargain: With Veroria destroyed and under constant threat by sleepers and exiles alike, the Verore had no choice but to delve deeper.
Disarm: An iron will is stronger than any sword.
Dropbear: Spreading vegemite behind the ears is a proven deterrent against dropbear attacks.
Eagle-Eye: Desire, dedication, and discipline far outweigh talent.
Eaten by Zombies:
Braaaaaains….
Braaaaaains…?
Endless Horde: The first undead which came through the rift to Avarrach seemed little threat. However, upon understanding how an entire world fell to them, panic set in.
Enraged Hulker:
Ventures to the north of the old worth lead to many new discoveries, some angrier than others…
HULKER SMAASSH!
Enyah, of the Endless Possibilities: In a universe of infinite dimensions, most omniscient go mad. Enyah manages to hold onto her sanity, if only barely.
Evellee, Mage Guild Recruiter: “If you’re not useful, to the dungeon with you!”
Exhaust: The weight of war weighs heavily on the weak.
Fiery Resolve: The Verore cast their death spells, but to no avail. The Flame Dawn slaughtered them all.
Fight!:
Test your might.
Challenge accepted.
Flame Dawn Aspirant: Arrayed across the horizon, naught but victory lay in their path.
Flame Dawn Fanatic: First to charge, first to strike!
Flame Dawn Purifier:
“Respect the warrior who would die for his own ideals. Beware the monster who would turn you upon your own.” –Flame Dawn Purifiers’ Codex
The Flame Dawn were the first to recognize the undead from Avarrach as the true threat they were, creation a division dedicated solely to destroying them.
Fleeting Footman:
ATAAAAAAAAAACK!
Wait… RETREEEAT!
Frenzied Monstrosity: ‘Never have I seen such a strong will to live,
Gather the Weak:In the demon wastes wander the lost, and those that feed on the lost.
Genesis Construct: Constructs are ubiquitous in cities owned by Genesis Industries, performing menial tasks for the citizenry. Genesis employees treat them kindly though, in case someday the constructs end up ruling them all.
Herald of Dawn: Apprehension personified, the Herald brings his terms: surrender, or die. There are no other options.
Hidden by Clouds: ‘Specimen 34.0a is easily identifiable by being really, really big. Fleeing in panic is advised.’ -Genesis Industries Field Operations Manual
Hubris of the Strong: Pride is a double-edged sword like no other.
Hungry Abomination:
Those who have lost both their minds and their bodies to the wastes.
Those who become more demon than man.
Those… abominations…
Inevitable Dead: Innumerable in nature, inevitable in function.
Infected Pack Leader: Avarrach was the first world to fall to the virus. In time, the Old World will be the second.
Infested Hero: ‘Great heroes stood against the unending horde. Stood, and fell…’
Infested Hulker:
Not even the might hulkers of the east could fend off the undead threat.
Obviously…
Infested Knight: Over time the virus learned to evolve and manifest itself into new forms, but to see a flesh turn to metal is something I did not expect.
Ireul, Vanguard of Ruin: No foe can resist a meeting with Ireul in battle.
Kali, The Purifier: The leader of the Flame Dawn Purifiers, her mission is to stamp out the corruption of Avarrach: wherever, and however it manifests.
Killaroo: What’s up, Skip!?
Kinetically Overloaded Drone:
‘Hey, did we unplug that one robot before going home?’
‘Meh, I’m sure it’s fine.’
Kyrallic, Origin of the Virus:
Aleta made her way through Avarrach, suffering each day as her body struggled to fight off the virus that infested the very air itself. Oddly, the undead around her simply left her alone, instead all singly-mindedly walking towards the closest rift.
At the start of her journey, the virus would only attack her if she came into direct contact with one of the undead. Lately though, the undead around her were becoming more and more active, rarely anymore did she see the Sleepers sleeping. As they awake, the air became more hostile to the living.
Even though many digital records had shut down long ago, Aleta had millennia of technical knowledge, and found it trivial to reactivate their ancient terminals. The centuries-old records told a grim tale: one of world wide panic and hopelessness.
One city in particular was mentioned often: Kyrallic, once a great center of learning on Avarrach, and the origin of the virus. Thus she found herself there, searching for anything that would shed light on a cure.
Around here were the dead of Avarrach, ignoring her to head in one, uniform direction. One of the undead, however, moved differently. She did not move with the others, instead seemed to wander aimlessly among them.
Aleta made her way toward the errant undead. As she approached, her target stopped and stared at her. Aleta stared back, in shock.
Two identical Aletas stared at each other: one from Talich, one from Avarrach.
This twin of hers looked tortured from the virus. Centuries of the cycles of becoming infected and immortality fighting off the virus, a painful cycle that Genesis-Aleta had already come to know so well, had taken its toll on her newfound twin.
At last, Aleta had found the key she was looking for.
Lightning Blast: Zaaaaaaaaaaaap!
Low Orbit Ion Cannon: Created for justified, judicious judgment.
Mechanism: Certainly not one of the most conventional inventions, but one of the more practical ones.
Mega Unit 03: If we are to survive we must adapt, and so must our creations.
Mind Splinter:An idle mind is the devil’s workshop, but a broken mind becomes my slave.
Orion, Master Architect:
‘I promise every employee of Genesis Industries that no man or woman will be left behind.
Even those who fall shall be made part of the new world.’
-Orion, Leader of Genesis Industries
Overwhelming Dead:
Such dead
Many whelming
Wow
Paladin of the Flame Dawn: Punching through the thick veil of dark magic, the Paladin struck down his doe with a single sure strike.
Plaguebearer:
The plaguebearers hold a special property which strengthens the connection which all sleepers share, the sleepers network.
Mmmm… I wonder if it’s hackable?
Pras, Traitor of the Dawn: Et tu, Brute?
Prophet Karani: She, in truth, hath offered up her life as a ransom for the redemption of the world.
Purify:
‘It’s not enough to deal with a problem. You must make sure you NEVER have to deal with that problem again.’ –Kali, the Purifier
Purge it with fire!
Rabid Rabbit:
‘I’m warning you!’
‘What’s he do? Nibble your bum?’
Reckless Zealot: Machine guns belie faith!
Recurring Nightmare:
That which kills me, makes me stronger.
That which removed me from the game, sucks… a lot…
Risen of Avarrach:
‘Curiously, the nano-bots that comprise the virus of Avarrach behave as though a synthetic recreation of the processes in my own natural body,
I suspect this is not coincidence.’ –Aleta, ‘Genesis Investigations into Other Worlds’
Rita, Shadow Priestess: The only things a thrall of Rita are allowed to worship is death and Rita herself.
Ruins of an Ancient Civilization: Once created by man, now a maze of wilderness no man is welcome in.
Shifting Stone:
The shifting stones have lain under the protection of the sages for generations.
For them to fall into the wrong hands would be catastrophic.
Shikana, Who Demands Tribute:
Upon arriving he declared he was name Shikana, and he demanded tribute.
Shikana REALLY throw a temper tantrum when he doesn’t get his dinner.
Skraar: After losing an entire expedition in minutes, every Genesis worker in the new world was given a debriefing on Skraar’s appearance, as well as evacuation procedures should he be sighted.
Skraar’s Young: And yet a single glimmer of hope shines for the Warpath as new life grows.
Soldier of the Wall: All along Great Wall of Jinhai, the soldiers look out along the Demon Wastes, guarding against a sea of evil.
Steadfast Protector: Let not your faith deter you, nor your body bind you.
Stumble: Against the Flame Dawn, even a short stumble can mean death.
Subjugated Dragon: Once majestic creatures, torture by the demons have turned them into pathetic, hateful beings.
Summoning Stone: The thirst for power, unquenchable. The power gained, undeniable.
Suppress: Come see the violence inherent in the system!
Survival Swarmer: The Swarmers were a long forgotten race that had survived underground thanks to this last surviving strain’s ability to carry it’s asexual DNA forward through other non swarmer insects.
Temporary Mass Reality Shift: That was fun! Let’s never do that again.
The Calamity:
After the Calamity not a single mortal human was left alive in the Old World.
The Calamity sundered the very reality of the world, splitting it into infinite alternated dimensions.
The Defiant Hermit: After a lifetime of living among the darkest of humanity, he swore he would have nothing to do with humans again.
The Demon Wastes: Every man who wanders the wastes becomes something else by the time they come out.
The Hellmouth:
The Cult of Verore sought magic darker than they should have dared, dooming their world.
From beneath you, it devours.
Tithe Collector: ‘Countries ruled by the Flame Dawn must pay yearly tithes. Those that resisted must pay monthly.’
Tome of the Dead: In civilization’s last hours, with all of Avarrach’s technology turned against them, one last group of survivors wrote down their history… and how the virus was created.
Trickster Monkey: ‘Catch that DAMN monkey!’
Undisturbed Necropolis:
On the dead world of Avarrach, Justin explored the unnamed, empty city. An oppressive sense of dread filled the streets, creating hesitation with each step.
The wide streets were littered with the corpses of its long dead citizens. How long had they been there, Justin could not tell. They unnerved him, and so gave them a wide berth.
The air was still, as though it were aware of the pointlessness of stirring a dead world. Every object inside the homes he looked through was covered in thick dust, unsettled only by his passing.
In the center of the city was a shattered clocktower. Justin was intrigued. It appeared identical to the clocktower which stood for so long in the city of Lanstead, back home.
He entered the buildings. The elevators inside were powerless, so he took the stairs up. Lifeless bodies filled the stairway, and he noted with interest that every body was modified with cybernetics.
These modifications looked malignant to Justin. Each corpse looked like it had died in pain from within, torturing its host and distorting the body .
On one of the uppermost floors, the wall was shattered, allowing him to see out across the dead city. While looking out of the ruined wall, he caught his hand on a sharp corner.
A few drops of his blood fell to the street below. When they reached the ground, the city awoke.
Corpses which had lain still for centuries rose, an entire city of the dead risen by the smell of blood. They tore Justin apart.
Vanguard Knight: The honored vanguard division is comprised only of soldier who have come so close to death that they consider themselves already dead.
Vasir, The Chained Prince:
Deep in Veroria lies Aleta’s greatest secret: the fragile key to the demons’ enslavement.
Unable to kill him, but able to subdue him, Aleta gained mastery of his demonic minions.
The Chained Prince struggles ceaselessly to break free of his bonds, so that he may torture Aleta as she has tortured him.
Vengeful Warrior: Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
Verore Death Worshipper: From the shadows they watch you die, feeding on your every agony.
Verorian Hydra: Below the ground in the wastes surrounding Veroria lie the Hydras, twisted abominations created by Aleta’s experimentation ages ago, then discarded.
Wholesale Slaughter: The Exiles believe that life is short, and you could die at any time… especially right now.
Wreckful Walrus: ‘It pains me greatly to see such relics trampled under foot, and so much history lost.’
Zom-B-Gone 4000: ‘With this invention, I’m convinced that the undead threat will be contained. Forever. Then maybe we can all get on to more important things.’

Cthulhu bless you, girl.
I conceive that a great part of the miseries of mankind are brought upon them by false estimates they have made of the value of things.
