General Game Discussion / Re: Dead Game or?
« on: March 09, 2015, 07:00:54 PM »
Another issues is that Robbiesla (programmer and main set designer), another programmer and Robert (PR guy) have all left Lightmare leaving them even more short staffed. This shifts more work onto Teremus who, by his own admission, isn't doing his job as community manager effectively. As a result we still don't have basics like a news page, signing up is still tricky and Infinite Network seems to have died of neglect.

On top of that Lightmare have admitted they need to re-write IW 2014 because the code base has gotten so bad. They have also admitted their developers aren't skilled enough to develop a mobile app so they may have to outsource it.

All in all it's a sorry story, IW had great potential but it seems beyond LM's skill to realize it.

This issue has been around for ages, how has it not been fixed yet? Especially as it stops people at the first hurdle of getting into the game.

Seeing how long it takes Lighmare to approve a statement the convention will probably be long over by the time they decide to tell us anything.

General Game Discussion / Re: IW's Shuffling algorithm
« on: February 26, 2015, 09:40:30 PM »
IW uses Fisher-Yates for shuffling and uses the current time in ticks as it's random seed so CubicBerserker is right, it's pseudo-random.

General Game Discussion / Re: Is it that hard too..

We aren't asking for all Lightmares secrets, just some indication somthing is happening beyond Teremus's posts pleading for our "faith" while at the same time trying to gain sympathy by shifting the blame to Lightmare by saying they are the ones who are responsible for the lack of information.

Both Scrolls, Solforge and Hex have a news section on their homepage yet IW doesn't. The best LM have is a single post on Teremus' support zone from last year. What makes matters worse is that the staff of Infinte Network where prepared to write articles like this and create community content for free, but Lightmare seems to have systematically pissed them all off and now the site is dead.

So Lightmare, why not interview a top player, review a few decks, publish some lore or talk about what new players can do in the current meta? We just need something to let us know Lightmare are still there and stimulate some healthy forum discussion besides Winsanity's increasingly bizarre posts.

As for the "Huge" thing, that's still in the works and I'm excited to do the spoilers for it.

2 v 2?

General Game Discussion / Re: Regional Russian server for Infinity Wars

No, I've been here since the beginning and I'm all to aware of how things work (or don't work) at LM.

Of course, on the bright side an experienced Russian publisher will probably do a better job of managing things than Lightmare have. Perhaps it's time we learn Russian?

Can we expect it soon, or can we expect a "thesis" like timeline?

There will also be a separate Russian Language forum and it's all being managed by a Russian publisher (apparently).

General Game Discussion / Re: Latest Humble Bundle
« on: January 28, 2015, 09:26:02 PM »
How is that most (if not all minus Hearthstone) of IW main competitors got into this bundle and IW didn't? Looking at the dwindling numbers on steam charts IW needed a boost and this could have been it.

Will there be promotional material that looks a bit more professional?

General Game Discussion / Re: Community Wars 1: Tournament Feedback
« on: October 14, 2014, 10:57:41 AM »
My feedback is more a question to think about for next time.

Should Infinity Council members be allowed to play in tournaments? I ask this because they have "insider" knowledge (and perhaps influence) on the design and development of the game which might give them an advantage. A lot of tournaments have rules preventing employees, affiliates etc. from entering tournaments so this wouldn't be unprecedented.

Now I want to make it clear that I don't want to detract from anybody's achievements in the tournament or make any accusations, as I said it is just a question that I though was worth asking.

Suggestions / Can we get a news page
« on: October 09, 2014, 04:21:24 PM »
All the TCGs I play have a regularly updated news page on their website except IW (well it does but it's hidden and has no articles). The closest thing was Teremus' 'Support Zone' page but that only has one article which is 2 months old.

Having a news page may help people feel "in the loop" and prevent people feeling as if nothing is going on at Lightmare. (What is going on by the way?)

General Game Discussion / Re: Questions, which bug me.

was a timeframe we were hopeful for

As that's past tense, are you no longer hopeful that you will be able to keep to it? If not are we going to get a revised time frame?

General Game Discussion / Re: Are Factions Going to Get Phased Out?
« on: October 06, 2014, 02:58:18 PM »
Allow me to be blunt: if you start phasing out factions, I stop playing and supporting this game. I see no reason to want to continue collecting these cards if my favourite faction runs the risk of simply being "no longer supported" and made redundant, rendering large parts of my collection effectively worthless as the game goes forward. In general, lore be damned, I think it would be a really, REALLY bad idea. This isn't like eliminating a minor expansion faction like Legend of the Five Rings eventually did with Toturi's Army/The Monkey Clan, the Brotherhood of Shinsei, or the Ninja, this would be more akin to removing one of the colours from Magic: the Gathering. DON'T do it.

This is how I feel. On top of phasing out people's favorite factions it will also mean phasing out people favorite play styles.
