Concerning different ways to deal with Gowron's difficulties...
I've heard talk of making Gowron immune to poison damage. Fair enough. It would probably work.
Another alternative would be to give him Untouchable, which opens up a whole can of worms but hear me out.
With untouchable, targeted poison or other pinging effects wouldn't work on him. Of course, neither would spot removal. HOWEVER, and this is the interesting part, it would also mean that Fight effects wouldn't be able to target him either--and that means that the only way for Gowron to have his ability go off would be for him to be in combat or for global damage that does not target to go off. Admittedly, this doesn't stop the DoD/Gowron deck from abusing him like they have already, but that deck is by no means unbeatable or even particularly broken. And it still wouldn't prevent someone who is running Sleepers from playing a global poison effect (which can't happen on turn 1) or protect people from Q's global poison effect (which is already chance, so I'm not worried about that one).
Those are the two possible solutions that come to mind right now. The first one deals with a specific problem and involves some new code; the second one is a simpler solution that has mixed effects. Both of them deal with this particular combo.

What's with Defiant Hermit, a dude who left the Verore?

Well, a Wizard did it. That is, a sorceress.

Let's say that Pras leaves the Dawn for whatever reason. He then goes to the Verore for mix-and-match motivations discussed above. Then, predictably, he gets kicked out because he's a guy. And he goes back to the Old World through whichever short hop-skip-jump portals he used to get to Reisch without dying in the first place.
At which point he gets old, grows a beard, suffers from an unfortunate case of purple-eye, and gives lore writers everywhere headaches. He saw the worst of humanity in the Flame Dawn AND the Verore. Now he's decided to give a general 'take that, suckers' to anybody who wants to give him lore or try to figure out how the beasts of the Old World haven't killed him yet.

Suggestions / New Faction Quest ideas

I love the new quest system--it's a great improvement over the old one, but the faction quests always bothered me.
For one, going double or triple factionless doesn't have any quests, which I kind of understand as it is by definition 'factionless,' so it would be hard for there to be a faction quest as there's no faction to reward you, per se. I get that.
However, with the introduction of Star Trek, I got this crazy idea for there to be Star Trek faction quests, which I then realized would be kind of silly as it's a casual format that not everyone wants to invest in. So I was thinking this over and I came up with the idea of a sort of misc. faction quest that would read something along the lines of "Play X PvP games with two or more commanders from one of the following factions: Klingon, Federation, [insert new crossover faction], etc." Although that might end up being a lot of text for the quest description.
While I'm on the subject, I find it kind of weird that the 250 game Faction quests give out character icons but the 500s, the top tiers, just give out the faction medal that can only be seen in a player's profile. Maybe add a title like [Playername] of the [FactionName] or some other perk that shows a player's loyalty to a particular faction beyond just the faction medal. I dunno.
I also thought about there being a Taste the Rainbow faction quest, but that's already a weekly quest so I don't mind. I think part of why I'm so interested in having a misc faction quest is because I feel like a pvp game that doesn't go towards a faction quest is wasted in some way. I think that's just me being weird.
I wasn't really sure where to put this suggestion, so feel free to move it if there is already somewhere for this kind of idea.

The only problem with Reisch and Talich not having a portal between the two/not interacting is that in the Flame Dawn campaign you come across "Warriors of Jade", as they are described. They also call the Sleepers "Class A1.07 creepies," which is hilarious.
Turns out that they were in the New/Old World at the time, but that would mean that the DoD had crossed from Reisch into Avarrach into the New World and then started following the FD around. If you ask me that's some insane defensive scouting mission. And the Warpath campaign pits you against the Verore. If Avarrach is such a death world/omnicidal threat, going on transdimensional conquests passing through it seems like a bad idea.
Moreover, the DoD campaign pits you up against the "Armies of Red"--and this is on Reisch.
So are the rifts between the worlds like daisy chains or is it more chaotic, as the campaign implies? Maybe it started as a daisy chain, but the widening of the rifts could explain all of the other random interactions. Now portals are opening up between anywhere and everywhere, or something crazy like that.

Well, I love lore and I'd love to be a part of your team. If you have enough ideas people and writers, I can try to do art--I'm decent if I put enough time into it.

So, can there be faction quests for the Starfleet and Klingons? Because that would be cool.
