General Game Discussion / Re: Infinity Heroes - Lightmare Studios New Game

it's a shame all the outlets I've contacted seem to be ignoring this (aside from LegacyKillaHD, whose mods at least commented on how long this would take to read).

You've done some great investigative work and buried it in a load of text. You need to explain it using about 1/3 to 1/4 of the amount you wrote.

I don't think they're greedy. they're just oblivious.

How hard is it to open a browser and read the forum on your own game?   :o

They don't check here, email them.

OMG a new agent coyle, what we have all been waiting for  ::)

The game is dead bruv, I've never seen a game revived successfully.  Player numbers dwindle until the end that's how it goes.  The only hope is someone takes the good ideas here (commanders, large animated art, etc) and make something new.

The best you can do is wait for a company to make a card game with similar mechanics. Nobody will buy a game with such a bad development reputation as Infinity Wars, neither are the players interested in yet another re-release. The code is basically also worthless because IW needs to be rebuild from the ground up to even function properly, let alone succeed. You can just copy the purity system, simultaneous turns and animated artwork and LM/Yodo can do nothing about it. And they won't, because they don't have any intentions to keep this game alive. Eventually everyone will forget about the game and the server will be shut down.
This is what I have been thinking for a while too.  The shame will be all the lost art :/

General Game Discussion / Re: So... What about this game?

HS is really inferior but it has Blizzard behind, while IW....
I will miss this game, it is my first online TGS, i managed to get every normal cards and invested a lot. Maybe there's a hint of regret to have done it, but not by much.
The thing that i will really regret is to not know what will be the end of the storyline, especially for the Warpath (my favorite faction) after all their hardships.

I recommend Eternal, it is a fun cardgame so far, with interesting mechanics and some cool card combos to be found. Discovered it a few days myself and have fallen in love, great potential there. Had some obvious inspiration from MtG though and has ressource cards you gotta play, so it depends on whether you are okay with that. Not everyone can stand the risk of being mana screwed/flooded.

If you do give it a try, feel free to add me in game. Name is the same as here.
I checked this out and it seems weird they didn't do anything about the mana screw/flood issue (unless I am mistaken).  Similar MTG clone Spellweaver has the option to discard a card for a mana.

Here are the state of the current CCGS imo;

Hearthstone: Simple and expensive. Could be fun for mobile but takes up like 2 gig.
Faeria: More complex with board and lands but looks boring.  Minions are tiny and don't feel interesting.
Duelyst: Like Faeria but better looking.  Got new publisher which implemented some dodgy new currency.  New set is good, but too expensive to  keep up with, like hearthstone.  Would be my favorite when it comes to mobile soon.
Plants v Zombies Heroes: Great mobile fun, expensive as usual but ok for f2p and only uses about 300mb.
Eternal: As above, base game design is flawed; no mana screw/flood protection.
Spellweaver: Fun game but really old looking now.  Would play this more if it was on tablet, or looked better.
Infinity Wars:  Best of the bunch, needs to be cheaper imo, needs love from devs and probs a new client.

I guess nobody told the website dev that the standalone client was discontinued ;D

You need to play via steam.

Since when was discord the place for official announcements?

How isn't there a post in the "announcements" section of this forum?  Dropping support for the standalone client is a big deal.

Positive thing is we can now accurately see how many are playing the game via;
Hint: not many  :P

I honestly hope they don't bother with a new set or w/e and Ian and the crew make a new game.

Of course, everything you have listed is positive, I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't want this for a purchase they make.

If a game offers this though, there will be some negative issues.   At the most basic level, there would surely be a cost of implementing such a system, thus increasing the cost of cards or lost development time for other issues people may deem more important.  The balancing of those factors is important to know before being able to make a decision like this.

I hope I don't cause offence, just my 2 cents.  I think Merlin was spot on with his valuation (made in jest or not, I'm not sure), considering the uncertain state of the game rn.  I am a collector/buyer myself and it baffles me how people are still clinging on to the prices of the good old days.

Yes - people pay a lot for rare items in games that are active, but these cards will be worth $0 if things don't change.

Interested to see how much this goes for.

I don't get it, why are you protesting against players that make comment on a game?
Because it has been said time and time again.  It's like a negative review that you leave on steam except everyday making the same review.  An these negative reviews come from vet players who have already gotten many hours of enjoyment out of IW but aren't happy with it's current state and are driving new players away, which is what we need most right now.

If someone wants to leave negative comments here its all good, I've done it myself in the past, but sitting on the forums and continuously being negative in multiple threads is just annoying.

These people are like the preachers on the streets shouting "THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END", in their minds they are trying to help ppl.  No-one wants to remove their right to free speech, we are just pointing out its not healthy and no-one really knows all the variables (i.e whats going on behind the scenes with YM).

If you are really that concerned about the world coming to an end, then go do something about it, or move to another world or w/e.   Or just stay here and keep complaining.  Freedom of speech also applies to complaining about negative whiners.

Golden Rule: Treat someone the way you want to be treated back.
So, when has Lightmare gone around the forums posting negative crap about you?  :P

If you follow this rule then abandon the game, or don't.  All people are asking is that you stop posting negative comments up in here.  Yes, the game is in a weird state but posting negative comments just makes things worse.  If you really feel that strongly about it, email them.

Yes YM don't seem to be taking on many suggestions, so stop making them.  It's not an excuse to go full 360 and complain all the time.

Stay positive, maybe the game dies or it doesn't - in the meantime I think it's only fair to give YM time.

Re the economy (I am mostly a collector/trader on IW), I think it's fine.  Sure, some legendaries values have tanked, but that's good for new players.

The only way a new player could get a Primal was either rnd drop in pack (going to take a looong time, since you want 3 in a deck).  Or getting an equally good legendary, then also finding someone willing to trade that specific legendary for primal, which itself is tricky.

Sure, you traded hard for those primals you have. but they won't be worth puffy if the game dies anyway.  If you are a trader who is concerned about losing value via balance changes, focus on premiums instead.

Stay positive.

Cult of Verore / Martyr of Death
« on: November 16, 2016, 06:11:38 AM »
I've seen this card reviewed as a worse calamity.  Is that really the case?  It has pros and cons when compared to calam;

- Kills characters, so does morale damage and doesn't trigger remove from the game effects.
- Saves you 10 mana (no 9 mana ramp and 1 mana cheaper to play)
- Can be used as a character if calam effect not needed (not efficient mana-wise but more versatile still)
- Waste only 1 turn doing nothing instead of 2

- Kills characters, triggering death effects and cards go to the graveyard

What are you thoughts on this card?  Have you tried it out? Any other pros/cons I missed?

Make big cards (martyrs, dragon of autumn wind, etc) triple purity.  Triple purity is a joke right now, its 7 deck archetypes that are never supported.  Was there even a triple purity card in this set?
