Anti-Gravitational Field Generator
Purity: 2GI
Cost: 3
Type: Artifact

All characters have flying.

"If everything has flying, nothing does." - Hiding

An old idea i was playing around with before but which i quite like. Combos nicely with some other GI cards. Destroying the Generator will make every character lose flying again (if they didnt have it themselves anyways).

Choose who to eat at beginning of turn, eat at end of turn, if the character dies another way in between, he starves

I feel you should remove multilives or unstoppable. One of the 2 needs to go or hes damm op

I like the idea of choosing his sacrifice early so it can be sniped so i'll implement that, thanks for the suggestion. I dont see how the multilives or unstoppable make him that op considering how easy such characters can be dealt with by most factions. I guess you'd be kinda screwed as 3SoA for the most part, but the rest should have at least one good tool or tactic to deal with him.

Gotta appreciate effort for picking Ultra-Unit, but this card in unfixable without reworking of mega units first, which is not possible for CDC format (and even then it could be better to make Ultra-Unit independent from mega units)  :-\
You may want to change your entry if you care about being rated high, I think it's only fair to say it.

Fair enough, i think it could be enough to make ultra-unit usable for casual games but of course not for meta. Hm. Thanks for the fair warning, if i have another idea i'll choose another card then.

EDIT: Alright, new entry is up. Chose arguably the worst epic in the game this time, at least it could only become better ;).

Name: Nysrugh the Insatiable
Purity: 2Exiles
Cost: 5
Morale: 15
Type: Unique Character - Demon
Rarity: Epic
Stats: 8/8

Consume 2

When you deploy Nysrugh, he kills each Character adjacent to him. Nysrugh gains the power and health of each killed Character.

Whenever Nysrugh kills a character, he gains 1 additional life.
At the start of each turn when Nysrugh is deployed, choose a character you own. At the end of turn, Nysrugh kills that character. If he can't, he gains -10/-10.

Comment: So, added consume and unstoppable, added life gain to give him some survivability and made him really hungry. If he skips a meal he gets weaker.

EDIT: Just realized why Hiding mentioned unstoppable being problematic, forgot he would get lives from killed enemies too. So I agree now and removed it. You can still splash in wp or gi if you want him to be unstoppable.

Design a card that interacts with resources in some way beyond merely having a cost.(NatoPotato) (3rd to win 8 times)

Name: Stock Market Trader

Design a card which interacts with the opponents deck.(NTL) (15th with 2 victories)

Name: Spellbreaker
Faction/Purity: 2 GI
Type: Character - Human

This card has little to no effect, quickly filling the bottom of your opponent's library with cards... until they accidentally shuffle the deck. The cards arent entirely useless though, unlike Misinformation, they are card draw but which quickly bleed out the opponent.. and its not like theyll help much, theyre just going to be drawing more Lurking Doubts.

I just wonder, are there actually cards that reshuffle your library? I mean in a physical card game the 'shuffle cards into your deck' or 'search from your deck' type cards would require you to reshuffle your library, but that is not necessarily true for a digital card game.

False Flag Operation
Faction: 1DoD
Cost: 2
Type: Ability
Rarity: Uncommon

Create 3 False Loyalist characters in your opponents deck.

False Loyalist
Faction: 1DoD
Cost: 0
Morale: 1
Type: Character - Human
Rarity: Uncommon
Stats: 2/10

Charge, Locked to the Assault zone.

When you draw False Loyalist, you have to play him.
When False Loyalist enters combat and survives, you lose 4 morale.

"Something is fishy here. I can't believe that anyone would attack a defended fortress all alone, only armed with a sword and a pistol crying 'For the Dawn' at the top of their lungs." "Really? What about that was out of character for them?" - Conversation between two wardens of the wall.

Purity: 1CoV
Cost: 5
Morale: 8
Type: Character - Human
Stats: 10/10

Battlemage may not enter the Support Zone once he enters the Battlefield. (He can still be moved to the Support Zone by other card effects).

At the end of the turn, if Battlemage is on the battlefield, he deals 4 damage to the character with the lowest health your opponent owns (this can hit multiple characters with the same health!).

When you deploy Battlemage, you may overcharge him with a FD or DoD card. If you choose a FD card, he gains +4/+0 and charge. If you choose a DoD card, he gains +0/+4 and vigilance.

After the fall of veroria, some cultists sold their services as mercenaries to learn about new ways of fighting.

Comment: The card i used as inspiration is Captain kurn, but i tried to make the 'being locked to the battlefield' - effect a bit more interesting than just having above average stats for its cost.

Yes. You must discard a minimum of 2 cards or you can't play him. You may discard more than that though if you want to.

EDIT: Slightly changed the wording on Yorn to reflect that the discarding is an additional cost on deployment.

Yorn, Herald of Chaos and Decay
Purity: 1Exiles/1SoA
Cost: 8
Morale: 14
Type: Unique Character - Undead Demon Dragon
Stats: 12/12
Rarity: Legendary

Flying, Consume 2, Infect

As an additional cost when you deploy Yorn, you must discard at least 2 cards (you may discard more though).
For every card discarded this way, Yorn gains +3/+3 permanently (this persists through death and removal from play).

When Yorn is in the graveyard, you may discard your entire hand to return Yorn from the graveyard to your hand. You cannot use this if your hand is empty.

Sightings of the two-headed dragon Yorn are regarded as omens of horrible disaster in Reish.

A demonic dragon changed by the infection or an infected dragon corrupted further by the demons? Nobody but Yorn himself knows the answer.

First, it was a minor complaint from my side. If I would have thought that your card is absolutly unacceptable for the purity you placed it at, I would not have ranked it where i did.

I agree that not every faction needs to only have cards for their primary playstyle, in fact for many factions I wish there was more than one viable style. However, I think that alternative playstyles/cards should not come from other factions primary playstyles, but need to be something with own identity (that might very well synergize with another faction to be splashed in). After all, the factions being distinctly different from each other is what makes this purity system really interesting imho.

If you have another opinion, then that is perfectly fine, but I would actually prefer that the factions core competences would 'bleed' much less into other factions than some of them already did - just take removal spells. I liked it much more when the only good cheap and easy to use hard removal was Verore only and you had to really pay up for neutral cards like assassinate if you wanted hard removal in 3p Wp for example.

I also agree that not every card that is aggressive needs to be FD, but this card is more than just aggressive, comes with 2 typical FD abilities and a new one that seems to be tailormade for FD.  Sure, FD/DoD could use a card like that, but then again, every deck that doesnt aim for a morale victory could. Anyways, long story short, i still think it is a good card and i really like it. Just thought for a double purity card it looked like not a lot of DoD influence went into it.

Prince of Lies

I had an extremly hard time to choose the winners this time even after going over all entries multiple times, it was extremly close this time and every card could have come up at least in the 3rd place. Good work everyone.

3rd place

2nd place

1st place

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks everyone for participating.

Suggestions / Re: Future card ideas

SoA could have been the kings of unlimited characters - faceless, disposable masses of undead that shamble along during the zombie apocalypse. And they kind of had the right unlimited character to pull that off, but it ended to be lackluster - mostly because there was not much synergy and support from the rest of the SoA roster. So, these are a few ideas how you could have made cards centered around the Unending Horde, my favorite unlimited character (that i never quite got to work in a deck).

Blighted Lands
Purity: 2SoA
Cost: 4
Type: Location
Rarity: Rare

Whenever a character dies, they are transformed into a 4/4 Unending Horde and placed into your graveyard.

Fracturing Recreation
Purity: 1SoA
Cost: 2
Type: Ability
Rarity: Common

As an additional cost, sacrifice a deployed character. For every 4 attack this character has, create 1 Unending Horde in your graveyard.

Horde Assimilator
Purity: 2SoA
Cost: 4
Morale: 6
Type: Character - Undead
Rarity: Common
Stats: 12/6

Characters killed by Horde Assimilator are transformed into 4/4 Unending Horde characters and placed in your graveyard.

All-embracing Infection
Purity: 3SoA
Cost: 10
Type: Ability
Rarity: Rare

All cards in all graveyards are transformed into 4/4 Unending Hordes and then placed in your graveyard.

Horde Leader
Purity: 1SoA
Cost: 3
Morale: 5
Type: Character - Undead
Rarity: Uncommon
Stats: 2/2

Horde Leader gets +2/+2 for every unending Horde in the same zone as him.

"Undead leaders don't lead by charisma. It's more like the small stone that starts an avalanche. When one begins to run the rest follows into the same general direction - most of the time at least." - FD Scout

Unending March
Purity: 2SoA
Cost: 3
Type: Ability
Rarity: Uncommon

Raise target undead character with cost 3 or lower from your graveyard to your support zone. If the targeted character is an Unending Horde, you may raise a 2nd Unending Horde from your graveyard after the first one.

Greetings, fellow card designers.

This contests challenge:

Design a card with high cost (or difficult requirements) and high impact.

With high cost i mean cards with 10+ cost. Every card type is allowed. Cost reduction systems are allowed.

You are allowed to make a card with less than 10 cost if it requires some crazy setup to make up for it (like ultra unit). But should you choose to go this more difficult route, please remember that these are hard to balance (and to judge). As an example, i would say that the Ultra-Unit card is still too weak for what it requires you to do. You are usually better off just using the 3 Mega Units if you manage to deploy them all.

Examples for these cards would be: Titan of the Old World, Virus of Avarrach, Calamity, Omnitron and many others.

--- Card Design Challenge Rules ---
1) The Judge appoints a challenge, it can be anything, making new card, redesigning an old one or whatever you wish.
2) All that wish to participate submit their card design. Each participant may only submit one entry per challenge, you may however edit your post as many times as you wish till the deadline.
3) If you edit your post you should make an additional post in this thread informing of the edit to make sure that the updated version of the card will be judged. The post should contain the full updated card details as well as a brief summary of what changed from your original submission.
4) After an announced deadline the Judge decides a winner. The winner then becomes the Judge for the next round.
5) All entries submitted before the deadline are guaranteed feedback, either in this thread or in another detailed feedback thread.

1st place: 3 alt art packs and 3 collection penta packs
2nd place: 2 alt art packs and 2 collection penta packs
3rd place: 1 alt art pack and 1 collection penta pack
All participants who submit an entry will receive a collection penta pack
