I've noticed this since I came back to the game! Forum is super slow on all mediums for me, both phone, work comp, and home comp. this forum takes 30seconds to a minute to load, while I could have instantly brought up another website while waiting.

Yes, that has been an issue lately and the team is looking into it, hopefully this can be resolved soon.

I run a firefox browser with 'no script' and if i disable Aletasarchive.com the lag in loading disappears.

hope it helps! GL!

I noticed that the site spends a bunch of the loading time 'Waiting for aletasarchive.com" or "Connecting to aletasarchive.com"

Seemed weird since that site hasn't been used in ages, but then I remembered the 'Card' function which still exists in the forums post editor.

I looked in the source code and found one reference to the old aletas archive site
<script src="http://aletasarchive.com/js/cardlink.js"></script>
trying to open the site or the file itself directly either times out or gives a 404 error.

Since this javascript link is in the sites 'header' and doesn't load asynchronously the rest of the site has to wait for it.

Basically whoever has control over the forum templates should check the custom head tags and remove that link and then look into removing the 'Card' option from the post editor.

The other alternative is to use an updated version of the file which instead of reading from aletas archive reads from the IW wiki or infinite network (http://infinite-network.com), this would be the ideal option as we would regain the ability to embed card previews into our posts.

I did manage to find a cached version of the script and I've modified it to read from the infinite network site, I've done some testing with it and so far it seems to work fine (even added additional functionality ;)), let me know if you guys want to use it.

Nato nails it :)

cardlink.js Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
<script src="http://aletasarchive.com/js/cardlink.js"></script>

For Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/pl/firefox/addon/noscript-lite/

It may block some functions for posting, but you can at least run forum smoothly and can always disable this add-on later when they finally fix that problem.

We're experiencing some problems with the forum loading times and fixing it will take more time than expected. To make the loading process faster in the meantime, we recommend using a Non-Script Blocker add-on such as those linked below:

Firefox users: http://addons.mozilla.org/en-gb/firefox/addon/noscript-lite/

Chrome users: http://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/no-script-suite-lite/ahnanjpbkghcdgmlchbcfoiefnifjeni

Can you elaborate why such a simple task (removing a single line of HTML from the forum template) should take so long? The forum is a really important community resource and neglecting it like is is very worrying.

Yes, i agree Chapman but unfortunately the only employee with the access isn't available at this time.

It appears to be fixed now. I'm getting "waiting for infinitenetwork.com" instead of "waiting for aletasarchive," at least

If this was any other forum I'd have a rant about how ridiculous this is but this is the kind of stupidity/incompetence I've come to expect from IW. For now lets just hope whoever owns aletasarchive.com now doesn't decide to inject a malicious JavaScript file into the forum...

Not sure how that's possible, there is no forum integration with infinitenetwork.com

as nato pointed out
 this is still there...looping.
I got this today from firefox (as i have script blocked in chrome)

And it's back to "waiting for aletasarchive.com..."

Not sure if the issue is happening again or if the forums are just super slow for me right now, but the whole time it's loading I get the 'waiting for aletasarchive' message, that embedded link to the script is still there and I get error messages about failing to load the script.

Either way the aletas archive link really should be removed, or replaced.

I still have that prototype infinite network script if the person with control over the forum template wants it (https://pastebin.com/TmTp1GhK) all they'd have to do is save that as a js file and change the link to the new file instead of aletasarchive.
