Title: [Weekly Post #10] Create a Challenge Mission!
Post by: RikkiTikki on April 21, 2016, 07:56:35 AM
Hey Infinity Warriors!

Got a knack for creating fun and devious puzzles? Tired of the old Academy missions? Think you can do better? Well, here’s your chance!

As we continue revamping the new player experience behind the scenes, we noticed that the Academy was somewhat out of place: on the one hand, the word “academy” implies that the missions are primarily instructive and newbie-friendly. On the other hand, many of the missions are actually quite difficult and don’t necessarily teach players how to fully utilize basic strategies and mechanics in an intuitive way. As a result, we’re making some changes to it!

The Academy will be renamed as “Challenges”, an area that will provide players the chance to tackle some unique and interesting missions built by the community. Since the Challenges section will cater to more experienced players, almost all features related to the new player experience will be present in the new campaign.

So, say you have the perfect challenge in mind - fantastic! All you need to do now is fill out this form and tell us about it:

-----> http://goo.gl/forms/YmUbqWbhKa <-----

Here are a few helpful tips when pitching your Challenge:

Keep these guidelines in mind and provide as much information as you can about your brilliant puzzle! Remember, the goal of a Challenge is to, well, challenge the players! Don’t be afraid to make the most dastardly puzzles you can think of.

We’ll be accepting submissions until 1 month from now. Also, there are no limits to how many Challenge missions you can submit, feel free to go crazy! Once the deadline has passed, the team will look through all of the submissions and pick the best ones to put into Infinity Wars.

So get those creative juices flowing and show us what you got!

Cheers, RikkiTikki

First

Suck it all

I am stoked to say the least. :D

Just a General question: Will there be any sorts of rewards (digital most likely) for people that have their submissions being picked? For example a title or avatar or just cards.

Can we submit more than one suggestion? I've come up with a relatively simple challenge that still requires some unorthodox thinking, but while I'm more or less happy with it where it is I'm sure I can come up with something better

This is actually pretty cool and shows how much the community has a voice in this game.

I'll be making some puzzles for sure whenever I find the time!  :)

Damn, the last academy challenge was one of my favorite parts in the game. It seems like it'll be pretty difficult create something that's as challenging and polished as that one.

I made the mistake of sending in a challenge that won't work. Started as 2 GI, 1 FD and as I found out that I could not use Ferocity the same turn I Weaponize an artifact, I moved to 3 purity FD in order to use Bloodbath. I used Uncontrolled Rift to explain the deployed character but forgot that Weaponize can't be in the new deck. Silly mistake. Wonder how many challenges will be submitted.

lol.

I also just found out that you need to select one of the options under Implementation Details or you can not submit. What if a challenge does not need to force initiative, disable trading post as well as have hand size other than 5.

Just force initiative anyway?

I just selected hand size other than 5 as the challenge I submitted can be made with a hand size other than 5 but can also use hand size of 5. My challenge had some room for how it is implemented.

What exactly was this? An entertainment therapy session? I seriously feel trolled at this point.

Not only I, but several other players invested a lot of time and brain power into this.
You havn't only decided to pick only ONE SINGLE CHALLENGE to get implemented (without clearly stating so), you also STILL havn't implemented that ONE SINGLE CHALLENGE.

Wtf is your problem? Are Lightmare Studios and Yodo1 standup comedy shows? Am I missing the punchline? Is this a slightly delayed April fools joke? I mean, with the way you guys hold your timeframes, a belated April fools joke makes the most sense to me atm.

Poor Hiding, myself and the other contestants for being fooled into bullpuffy once more.

Well i got a title that was cool i guess. Tbh I didnt expect too much from this. Im mainly here for fun so I dont commit anything really so Im not easily disappointed. But yeah imagewise, this is another blow to the game which kinda sucks.

In the short-term, we cannot dedicate the time needed to implement this. I do apologize on behalf of our team; this was an oversight in development resources and communication. I urged the importance of fulfilling this contest, however, and the team is open to giving this a high priority once we are finished doing the work for Rebellion.

In light of this, I also believe there was an additional miscommunication. Apparently, the original intent was for there to be multiple challenges incorporated; not just one. Once we get through the release of Rebellion, I will be petitioning for the team to include multiple entries from the original contest. I believe we should separate the academy into light training missions, and tough player-made challenges.

Appreciate the response.

I would assume that I got the response for having asked, but I think puting in somthing like "and then I will inform everyone on what will be done" would be better and  in general when tackling a subjet that is brought to the team to to just inform the players on the outcome of it. It is not the best of situations when we have no idea what is going on with the game in terms of what they will or are working on. It certainly would be bad to not have any info on when Challenge Missions will be worked on and to just having to wait until it is finally made, which would be a long wait.

How about making this into a game of how long does it take for a IW staff member to replay to a question. It has been 13 days since I asked the question about the state of challenge missions. So what do people think. Will we get an answer in 2017? Or maybe the standard is to make you wait at least 2 weeks and a replay will appear tomorrow. Or maybe we will never get an answer as to what they will do regarding challenge missions. But my hope is that they will see this topic and reply to my post. But that might just be wishful thinking.

The reason there hasn't been a response is because the devs statement hasn't really changed. This is not something that is being worked on at the moment, however in the upcoming months I believe they are going to be looking at the NPE again.

This is a time when things like the community challenge missions will potentially be implemented.

Thank Interesting_Socks. Just getting a response such as lightmare not working on challenge mission at the moment, but likely working on it in the upcoming months is all I need to hear. It has however taken a lot of time to just get a response on this. Would have been much better to get news on this sooner than after a month.

If it takes a month to get a volunteer mod to answer a forum post, how long do you think it'll take to actually get this implemented?  ::)

Well it seems like the volunteer mods are about a lot more then Drew recently. They'll be using volunteer developers next.

They won't, because that'd actually somewhat make sense and might allow someone to accidentally fix the game. Surely this can't be allowed.

First of all they are already using volunteer developers. Second, as a detective I have suspicion that Drew may no longer be apart of the Lightmare team. This is all speculation as I personally haven't played the game as much as I'd like.

Reasons:
No tournaments since New Years
Chappie distributed Ranked Rewards
Have not seen Drew
